The Dashain

Dashain is one of the greatest festivals of Hindus. It is celebrated in the happiness of god's victory over evil. Mostly falls on the month of Ashwin. Sometimes, it also falls on kartik. This festival is also known as vijaya Dashami.

     The Dashain festival is celebrated for 10 days. All the government offices and schools are closed during this festival. 

Some people enjoy playing cards and some in playing swing during this festival. The first day of Dashain is Ghatasthapana.

On this day, people sow maize seeds together with barley seeds. From that day, people regularly pour water into it. From that day, goddess Bhagwati is also worshipped till 9 days which is known as "Navaratri". Similarly, the seventh day is known as fulpati.

People sacrifice goats on the eighth and ninth days. The main important day of this festival is the days of Bijaya Dashami.

     On the day of Bijaya Dashami people wake up early in the morning. They wear new clothes. Elder people put red tika on the forehead of juniors. They also put jamara on their head. Elder people give blessings to the junior one. They also give money to children.

     In this way, they enjoy the whole day by eating delicious food and fruits. People forgot the enmity and join together on this day.

 We should celebrate this festival in a good way. We should not spend more than our capacity.
