Holi is one of the most famous festivals celebrated in Nepal. It is mostly celebrated by terai people on the full moon day of Falgun. For some reason, it is also called Fagu Purnima. Besides, other people from all around the country also celebrated this festival. Holi generally falls in the month of Falgun. Schools are closed during this festival. Colleges and offices are also closed.
In some places, people wear a white dress in this festival. They throw different colors to each other. They also sprinkle water to each other. They take ganja and bhang. They also drink alcohol. People eat sweets and other delicious food at this festival. They also, dance with a group.
Similarly, in some places, people play with colors among one another. But, they do no wear white clothes. Neither the dance nor they take alcohol and ganja. They just go on the top of their houses and sprinkle water to each other and the people walking on the street. People also use Lola balloons and plastics for this purpose. They look very happy.
Hence This festival is celebrated with joy. We should also celebrate this festival. But we should not force the person who is not interested to take part in it. In the present day, people started to throw balloons filled with water before three-four days only. Students of colleges and schools have become victimized of it. Other people also get trouble because of it. So, we should celebrate this festival on the day of Falgu Purnima only with the interested one.
